A few words about the Burgundy Canal. Its length is 242 kilometers beginning at Migennes on the Yonne to Saint-Jean-de-Losne on the Saône. The construction began in 1775 and it was completed in 1832.
The Port of Pouilly-en-Auxois is the Continental Divide between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. The Canal goes underground to traverse Pouilly in a tunel 3.3 kilometers long. Today the Canal is dedicated exclusively to pleasure usage. The port in Pouilly in fact has a maritime ambiance. There is a museum featuring the Canal. The design was done by a Japanese architect: Shigeru Ban.
Photo was taken with a Leica M8.2 with a Summicron 35mm f2 Lens.
