Mont Ventoux, Clouds & Vines

Before I became occupied with moving I visited Provence frequently. Sometimes I managed to go 2 or 3 times a year. The area around Mount Ventoux is my favorite. This photo was taken in April 2009. The rugged romantic nature of this area greatly appeals to me.

So, another image of the Burgundy Canal. Since moving here 2 years ago my travel has been limited. Before, I was taking extended trips each Spring and Fall. My favorites places were Provence, the Gold Coast on the Mediterranean, and the Normandy Coast. I have explored most of France. My favorite towns are Strasbourg, Paris, Lyon, and Toulouse.

In September, for the first time in almost 30 years I will be exhibiting photos rather than paintings. The exhibit will be at Chateauneuf-en-Auxois. The photos will be primarily images from the region. The Burgundy Canal is a principle attraction to this region. Hence, I’ve taken a lot of photos of the Canal. Next year I plan on an exhibit in the Morvan which is a bit to our West. So, soon you will be seeing many photos from this area. From time to time I’ll post images from other venues.

My new friend

Thurday I formed a relationship with a butterfly. She arrived in the garden Thursday morning and I followed her around with a camera attempting to get a decent picture. The butterfly wanted nothing to do with me. I managed with some patience to get the photograph in this post. Then, that afternoon we had a storm come in. I went upstairs to close windows and found her on a wall with her wings folded. I was allowed to gently scoop her up in my hands. To the window with her, I open my hands and she sat there vibrating with fear. It took close to five minutes before her composure was regained and she could fly off. Now, she is a regular friendly visitor to the garden.
