I will quickly run out of names for images taken on the Burgundy Canal. This one was taken towards Auxerre. Could be that the Gold Coast Region was named for the light. Not that it is golden but it certainly is precious. More likely it was so named because of the hillsides lined with those Burgubdy grapes. The wine was in fact exchanged for gold. But no. Research has shown that it was so named for the gold color the vine leaves took in the fall. It is the only Region in France not named for a physical attribute of its land.
